The Britzer Garten is a green oasis in the centre of Berlin. Created completely from scratch in 1985 on former farmland for the Federal Garden Show, the hills, meadows and lake landscapes are now a unique biotope that is home to many plant and animal species.
In addition to themed gardens and horticultural attractions such as flower shows, the Britzer Garten also has learning and play areas for children as well as animal pastures with cattle, donkeys, sheep and goats. The bee house is home to four bee colonies, which consist of up to 70,000 bees in the summer months and shrink to 15,000 to 20,000 in the winter.
The modern environmental education centre is home to the open-air laboratory, where the Freilandlabor Britz e.V. association organises various environmental education events together with the Britzer Garten and Campus Stadt Natur.
