The Gärten der Welt in Marzahn attract plant lovers with 11 themed gardens where tradition meets contemporary garden art, as well as 9 international garden cabinets that invite a dialogue between cultures. The annual cherry blossom festival is a highlight, but tulips, roses and dahlias also invite you to marvel.
The international garden art of the Gärten der Welt can be experienced particularly well with one of the rallies on offer. On a discovery tour, you can gain an insight into the special garden and landscape architecture as well as the flora and fauna and get an overview of the entire 43-hectare site.
Since October 2020, the ‘Berlin Plants’ audio walk designed by author and director Caroline Böttcher has also been available in the Gardens of the World. Funded by the Senate Department for Culture and Europe and the district of Marzahn-Hellersdorf, the walk-in audio play allows visitors to stroll through the English Garden, the Oriental-Islamic Garden and the Rhododendron Grove free of charge. They learn interesting facts about the history of plants and gardens in connection with politics and culture - for example about the country of origin of the orange, who was often referred to as a pepper sack in the 16th century or what is behind the term fern fever.
