Transformative gardening in an urban wilderness
Surrounded by bramble hedges, nettles and wild hops, and frequently visited by deer, birds of prey and hares, the Kienberg garden is a little gem in the centre of Kienbergpark. A gardening community cultivates the 600 m² of land here in the spirit of permaculture.
Here you can experience nature with all your senses and feel part of nature again. Based on this connection, we intervene only minimally in natural processes and create edible landscapes.
As a garden community, we experiment with methods from social permaculture, wilderness education and deep ecology. Our aim is to create collaborative projects where everyone pulls together.
We are a small project and are consciously developing slowly but steadily so that we never forget the most important thing: We want to do what we do with joy and inspiration!
You are welcome to come along to our weekly gardening sessions (March to November) and take part in our workshops. Participation is free of charge.

Anne Schädler is the coordinator of the Kienberg garden. She is professionally and privately involved in permaculture, organic vegetable cultivation, forest gardening, urban gardening, wellbeing, education and social work.

The Waldgarten AG in the Kienberg garden
In a participatory process, the forest gardening group designs and implements a food forest in the Kienberg garden. The aim is to increase the yield of perennial wild vegetables, wild fruit and wild herbs with as little labour as possible in the smallest possible space. The aim is to increase the use of climate change trees and shrubs that can cope better with increasingly hot periods.
The edible landscape can offer insights into how to garden in harmony with nature without depleting the soil. At the same time, this creates habitats for animals and plants and promotes biodiversity.
The Waldgarten AG meets once a month.
