In the centre of the capital, the Park am Gleisdreieck was created in 2013 from an inaccessible wasteland - an urban open space in the countryside with a wide range of uses: Skaters and joggers, walkers and beach volleyball players, picnic and sports fans, nature explorers and technology enthusiasts make the Park am Gleisdreieck a hotspot between Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg and Tempelhof-Schöneberg.
The landscape of Park am Gleisdreieck is characterised by the central, extensive lawns and meadows, which are lined with small woods and individual trees and crossed by wide paths. The primary aim of the maintenance and development measures was and is to harmonise the interests of nature conservation and recreational use in the Park am Gleisdreieck.
During its time as a wild wasteland, a unique ecological diversity has grown at Gleisdreieck, which has also been preserved in the new park. In addition, the park also offers very special open and meeting spaces such as the nature experience area in the Ostpark, the intercultural garden ‘Rosenduft’ and the ‘Gärten im Garten’ in the Westpark.
